kathieb Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 I have been playing around with changing the icons in WinXP and I went under Tools, Folder Options, File Types and I went under advanced options on [NONE] File Folder. Under Advanced, I clicked on change icon and put in the picture that I wanted to be displayed. Clicked ok and exited out. My folders didn't change to the picture that I put in, although it displays it as the icon under folder options. And then my folders started opening in a separate window. So I went in and added an "open" command under tools, folder options, file types [NONE] Folder, advanced and chose explorer as the app to open it with and set it as the default by clicking on the set default. The folders/files still open in separate windows and I have checked off the open each folder in the same window option under the general tab and I have unchecked view folders in a separte process under the view tab. I am unable to delete the open command that I added and I have spent the better part of the evening trying to figure out how to make my files/folders open in the same window. I typed the following into run also: REG DELETE "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell" /va with no success. Any help would be appreciated.TIA, Kathie
gunsmokingman Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Try using system restore and restore it to before you made the changes
kathieb Posted June 5, 2005 Author Posted June 5, 2005 I have system restore turned off becuase I had a virus a while back and I couldn't get rid of it because system restore was keeping a copy of it. Never turned it back on.
