I'm looking for suggestions for internet sharing between an XP Pro server and an

XP Home client, peer-to-peer with a Cat 5 crossover cable.

My client shows connected in the Network yet is not getting internet.

The server is getting internet and shows "limited or no connectivity.

File sharing is working fine, just no internet to the client. I have tried MS patch to no avail. Firewalls are deactivated within the network. I have tried everything I know. Any suggestions would be great.

Have you run the ICS wizard? Click on "My Network Places" and then click on "Set up a home or small office network"

Yes I have gone through all the basic protocol steps to try to correct this. I have also tried setting up the network manually in network connection properties.

I have read about connectivity glitches with networking caused by SP2, but haven't seen anything posted with my particular scenario. If I didn't know better, it seems like a firewall prob. However, I know all firewalls are disabled on that connection. It seems as the client is getting a partial signal. There's something there in other words, but no connection bottom line. If any of that makes sense.

OK, at the DOS prompt ...

ping 127.0.0.1

ping 192.168.0.2

ping 192.168.0.1

ping www.microsoft.com

do all of the above work, or do any of them fail?
