Create Sharepoint site

I just put together a server and installed windows server 2003 and sharepoint services with service pack 1.

I opened frontpage and tried to make a basic sharepoint site but it tells me that i'm not running sharepoint.

Any one have any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

Hi,

Did you installed sharepoint portal server or only sharepoint services alone......

i installed both

i created a virtual server and ugraded it and tried to use the sharepoint administrative center to put a site there but i keep getting errors that a user doesnt exist when i type an owner name. when i try and create a team site through frontpage i get the error that the the directory doesnt exist in the database

Its starting to annoy me
