MCE HDTV

hello all,

i was thinking of setting up an media center pc using mediaportal, or MCE. my satelliete reciever is an hdtv reciever. my television is also an hdtv it also has a component video interface which the sattelite is plugged into and configured for 1080i. as all of us with HDTV's know, the hd channels are the shiznit.

i know when i introduce a media center box, i would be plugging in the sattelite into the pc, then the pc into the tv, but if i do so i think i will loose my precous 1080i resolution with the hd channels *snif, snif*. the tv has a rgb video input on it, and my video card has a dvi dual diplay to it. if i hook the pc into the rgb input on the tv would i get hi-res (1080i) on the tv or do i need a special video out port that sends the 1080i signal?

i should have investigated before i asked, im refering to some ati cards and they have an hdtv adapter (cool!) that works with a series of their products. i believe i need their catalyst software to enable 1080i. now can i encode the hd channels as hd, and which hardware would i need?
