OEM folder not being copied from net/local install

Recommended Posts

Hey,

hope someone can help!!! and yes I have searched the forums and tried a couple of things that people have suggested.

This is what I’ve done created a folder called winxpdeploy on a server. Inside said folder is two folders: boot and winxp which contains $oem$ and i386. I copy both folders to a folder called deploy on a client machine and execute winnt using a batch file with the following commands

set AnswerFile=c:\deploy\boot\unattend.txt
set SetupFiles=c:\deploy\winxp\i386

c:\deploy\winxp\i386\winnt.exe /s:%SetupFiles%  /u:%AnswerFile%

and my unattend.txt looks like this :

Hey, welcome to MSFN :hello:

I believe you are not installing from a CD are you?

When you use winnt.exe or winnt32.exe your $OEM$ folder has to be inside the i386 folder.

Don't forget that if you use winnt.exe you can only use short file names (check the deploy.chm file from the microsoft deployment tool for more info about this
