Drive D not formatted after reinstall

Hello,

I've got a bit of a problem that I can't seem to find help for.

I've upgraded my pc (new MB,CPU,RAM & GFX) so I figured it was time for a new install of XP.

I backed everything up onto drive d and reinstalled XP. Now this has worked fine the new install flies along with no issues BUT I van't read drive D?

Whenever I try to access it from disk management it claims not to be formatted and would I like to do so now?

Well, actually, NO. :realmad:

I just want my old files back. I'm sure this is something really basic I'm missing but I'm stumped.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Have you tried an initialize it.

It happened a few times with me, its really simple, open computer management , right click the drive or partition an click initialize

Dont know if this helps, though

Hmmm, I don't seem to have the option to initialize it.

The drive is showing as healthy and active, although it says it's formatted as 'raw'

What does BootItNG say from DOS? It has some kind of Undelete partition utility, but use at your own risk, because I don't know what it does.

Maybe you could create something like a BartPE boot cd, www.nu2.nu, and use the cd to access your D: partition.
