El Jefe
I am a windows user who likes to keep the main windows system files by themselves on C:, and all the documents and settings, program files, start menus, and temp folders on another location, D:However, i am having a problem getting XP to install the Documents and Settings items for 'All Users' to the D: drive....For my login it works fine, anything I install, everything goes to the D: drive....but for the 'All User', it still goes to C:Any ideas?! Guest LouCypher
Open regedit and do a search for "Shell Folders". There are to keys in particular:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerShell Foldersand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerUser Shell FoldersTherse two keys tell Windows where to look for the stuff for "All Users".Additionally, the two keys:HKEY_USERS.DEFAULTSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerShell FoldersandHKEY_USERS.DEFAULTSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerUser Shell FoldersTell Windows how to build a user's profile directory and where to look for the files it needs for that user's profile within that directory. You can move an user's profile through the account manager. Edit these keys above to do what you want.
