jm1248 Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 I swapped the location of two desktop PCs (one is XP/SP2, the other is W2000). For a month, they communicated fine. Since swapping them, they say they can't see each other ("network path was not found"). They can though - I can hear the W2000's hard drive working when I try to access it from the XP unit. My notebook (XP/SP2) can access the shared folders on both the XP and W2000 machines and they can access it.I'm using a Linksys Wireless Router (the Notebook connection is wireless and the desktops are connected by ethernet cable) All of the PCs can access the Internet.I have not changed a thing other than physically move the units (they're 12 feet apart). I didn't move the mouses, keyboards or monitors though. Thanks for any input,John
doom34 Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 first unplug everything, router, modem then plug modem in first shut down all pcs and restart one at a time until each one optains an ip address.may have a dhcp problem.
KJxp Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 If you have a firewall, it might be causing the problem. Temporarily disable it.
jm1248 Posted May 17, 2005 Author Posted May 17, 2005 Tried powering off all network devices and going through the sequence as recommended by Linksys manual. No difference. Firewalls off also had no diff.Transferring files through my notebook works okay so I guess I'll just do that for now. Thanks for your help.
