problems with winnt.sif - unattened-AIO-DVD

Recommended Posts

hello,

I've some problems with my Unattended-AIO-DVD. Normal installation works perfect, but if I want to boot the unattended version of my Win XP Pro, there is the message: (sorry for the englisch. Translation from german!)

line 1 of the inf-file \UNA2\winnt.sif is fault.

Setup can't continued. Press any key to reboot

My winnt.sif is this:

[Data]
Autopartition = 1
MsDosInitiated = 0
UnattendedInstall = Yes

[Unattended]
UnattendMode = FullUnattended
UnattendSwitch = No
OemPreinstall = Yes
OemSkipEula = Yes
FileSystem = *
WaitForReboot = No
NoWaitAfterTextMode = 1
NoWaitAfterGUIMode = 1
TargetPath = Windows
       Repartition=Yes
DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore
NonDriverSigningPolicy = Ignore

[Display]
Xresolution = 1024
Yresolution = 768
BitsPerPel = 32
       AutoConfirm=1

[GuiUnattended]
AdminPassword = *
TimeZone = 110
OEMSkipRegional = 1
OemSkipWelcome = 1

[Components]

[UserData]
ProductKey = "xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx"
ComputerName =
FullName = "."

[RegionalSettings]
Language = 0407

[Networking]

[Identification]
JoinWorkgroup = Arbeitsgruppe

The problem also exists if I create the winnt.sif with nLite or the setupmgr.exe

And I know that this isn't a fullunattended-installation. I must enter the PC-name.

I hope somebody can help me.

Sincerly TeamO

Make sure you have the ; before any lines that are not commands to the installer...this tells the system just that and you can add comments any where through-out the file...

The problem is before that...if you are cropping the WINNT.SIF file please edit and include the whole file...CTRL+A selects the whole thing.

What is UNA2? Are you installing with winnt.exe?

Sometimes re-creating the winnt.sif fixes problems like yours.

";SetupMgrTag" is not required in winnt.sif files.

from your post, if \UNA2\ is your source directory then winnt.sif should be in \UNA2\i386\. From the error, I'm guessing that this isn't the case? As far as removing a line that was commented out (began w/ ; ) that shouldn't matter at all because the line would be ignored anyway---unless you only remove the ";". After comparing it to my own, I cant find anything that sticks out of place.. remaking the file like Dahi suggested is probably the best idea.
