MrMike
Has anyone else created an unattended XP SP2 CD that wouldn't work in a system that has a Phillips 8631 DVD R/RW drive? I've tried it with 3 drives that were all a Phillips 8631 and none of them worked. The CD works fine in other CD drives. More details below...ProblemWindows XP Professional CD that has been slipstreamed with SP2 will not install on Optiplex GX280 that has a Phillips 8631 DVD R/RW Drive. The problem doesn’t occur with a slipstreamed XP SP1 CD or when a different model of CD/DVD drive is used.Error DisplayedWhen the GUI portion of XP setup begins the following error is displayed immediately:FATAL ERROR:An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing. One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. The parameter is incorrect. After the error, the setup log file displays this information:SETUP LOG FILE c:\windows\setuperr.logError: Installation Failed: d:\i386\asmsError Message: The parameter is incorrect.Notes• All 3 Phillips 8631 drives are using H/W rev 02 and F/W rev.
