should xp key be required

hi, i created the iso , but i wanted to check it with microsofts virtual pc 2004, yet after a while it asked for the cd key , which i entered, but why would it do this , why did'nt it just use the information i supplied, in the winnt.sif file or is this just the way it runs, ,or does this mean i created the sif file incorrectly

either the key is incorrect, or the associated line in the winnt.sif file is incorrect or missing.
