Hello all,

My home page was hijacked by Smart-search.biz and its friends despite various protections being in place. The annoying thng is that my Outlook express email handler was also made inacessible and I still cannot get access to old emails etc. I was told to reinstall OE as that would do the job without losing files etc, but it's made no difference.

I'm using my ISP webmail at present which is a primitive thing.

Would anyone have any ideas please??

I'm running Mozilla instead of IE6 as one after the other the software to remove the hijacker failed to do so, so at least internet access is possible and indeed quite good with all the extra options available.

Many thanks all

if you have full version of outlook, open it and let it import the mail settings from your outlook express and also import you mail. Then use Outlook. Once you have all your mail there, you could always go back to OE and delete your old mail account, and then create a new account profile and see if it works that way.

Before opening it though, you might want to read this post and follow the instructions. I've not met a single piece of malware I haven't been able to remove (including CWS). :D

Agreed Tarun - me also ...

[tho the nail.exe one I've got on a repair job is a little tough to remove - even spoofing the nail.exe after I remove it and the other file relating to it lol but I'll get there]

... and, like you I'm sure, I've seen more than my fair share in the past 2-3 years and unfortunately, it can only get worse.

Nice page on your site Tarun :D

Regards and remember everyone that spyware can cause all sorts of trouble and problems where you wouldnt think it usually.
