Allocation Unit Size

I have got all my music ready to move to a new drive I bought to store it on. I was wondering would there be any advantage to use another setting for the Allocation Size, instead of the default option ?

220 GB of music

Average file size 4mb

250 GB Disk

Nope, optimal size is calculated automatically based on the size of the disk.

Also, think about what you're doing here - streaming music from a local hard drive at relatively low bit rates. Even if you were to benchmark the thing to death to get a few more MB/s, does it matter?

Perfomance was never really in my thoughts, it was more if the allocation size was bigger would it take longer for the disk to fragment and reduce the chance of data loss with so many files.
