supadodger Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 im trying to install from a d drive but xp stores the temp files on the c drive which means i cant format c drive and install there.is there a workaround for this?
supadodger Posted April 28, 2005 Author Posted April 28, 2005 figured it out myselffor the curiousjust copy the temp files from c:\ to d:\ and edit the entry in boot.ini
Badforyou2000 Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Open the command prompt and type the new location of the temp files.set temp=d:\tempset tmp=d:\temp
rjz Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 There is also the sys properties advanced enviroment variables.
pfarmer Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Cleanest way:For the USER:1. Login;2. Right-Click My Computer->Properties3. Advanced Tab4. Environment Variables5. User Variables for <username> - under here you can change where the temp files are storedI always change the temp dir. to c:\temp instead of the silly c:\documents and settings\ etc etc FOR THE SYSTEM:Under System Variables of the same window:Edit the TEMP and TMP variables to from C:\Windows (or C:\WINNT)\Temp to whatever eg. c:\temp d:\temp e:\temp etcetc
