paulmor
Hi,I currently have Windows 2000 installed on my primary hard drive. I installed XP on my second hard drive. Currently, I am using the included boot manager to dual boot. In future, after I have moved my files over from 2000 I would like to remove it and go XP only. Is there any problem in using Boot Magic or some other boot manager to boot XP from my second hard drive? Thanks, paulmor

Is there any problem in using Boot[/quote:2ed0e3ae3f]You might have a problem with the BOOT.INI file pointing to the wrong location if you just move or copy the XP partition to another hard drive, or swap the HD from Slave to Master. The BOOT.INI has a line that tells it where to look for the kernel, so you need to make sure that if you're not going to do a fresh install that you at least edit the BOOT.INI to point to the right place BEFORE you move or swap the partitions or something. XPerties
Oh yah, Good one Lou, Forgot about the boot.ini file being located on the first OS.:spaced -Chris
paulmor
As I won't be moving the partition, just removing 2000 this should not be a problem for me. Correct? Thanks for all the information guys. paulmor
XPerties
yes that what I was saying. The boot.ini file is under windows 2000. Isnt win2000 on your c: drive? Thats where its located.-Chris
Silent Z
My problem predates Paulmor's problem. I cant get XP to install on my second hard drive. It tells me that it cant be installed on that drive during the XP installer "Blue menu" section. Did you have to do anything special to make it install on your second hard drive Paulmor?I'm dual booting on my Laptop with absolutely nooooo problems...Same drive, same partition, it's very smooth. I was really surprised how easy it was.Silent Z
