raza Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Look at the pic and see that my names from the desktop folder have disappeared automatically. This also happened in other folder but when I changed the name of that folders all the files started to display their names correctly ,but what should i do in this case.
firefoxthebomb Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 You could try and install Power Toys for Windows XP (free download from Microsoft) and run the Tweak UI for windows XP and then go to the repair option and tell it to Repair your icons. That may work.
rjz Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Double check your view menu. Have you been doing any customiztions?
raza Posted April 20, 2005 Author Posted April 20, 2005 Yah im using customization programs however there is no prob in other folders except the above mentioned and also if I view it in Tiles instead of Thumbails it shows the names.
rjz Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Things to try:change resolutionsrepair/reload fontsrecreate directory might have to do from a bd if you can't in windowscheck other users folder that is the sameTry those and then let me know.
raza Posted April 21, 2005 Author Posted April 21, 2005 I repaired fonts with tweak UI and also i checked other user folders but it is still wrong and all other user folders are ok.How will i recreate directory and which one??
rjz Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 It looks lie your user desktop. So I would try to replace it from and admin account by going in and moving all of the files out then deleting the folder then remaking it. Then you could logon and copy some of the files back and recheck them. See what happens after you put each in.
Martin Zugec Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Did you try to delete desktop.ini from that folder?
KJxp Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Try holding down SHIFT while you select the Thumbnails view
raza Posted April 21, 2005 Author Posted April 21, 2005 Try holding down SHIFT while you select the Thumbnails view<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yah thankx man It worked and it is now ok.How does it happen??
KJxp Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 The Shift>Thumbnails tweak is a toggle, but how would somebody who doesn't know about it accidentally use it? I have no idea. I read it in a 2001 Lockergnome.com article (though they don't have it anymore on their website)
