locking any file

Featured Replies

Hi all

Is it possible to lock a file temporarily for test purposes. For example a text, jpg, or doc file (without having word installed the PC).

The PC to test this on is a windows machine. I wish to test the reaction of a program to a few files when it can and can't have any write access? So that the program can't change the name of the file or delete it or amend it.

Is the only way to set up file permissions to exclude the person conducting the test?

if you want just go in and remove all permissions except you, then log in as a diffrent user and the programs running in user mode wont have access, it would be easier to do it with fast user switching.
