tcstom Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 Hi, not sure if this is the place to ask this but I've tried everywhere. We are trying to make some Word doc templates (.dot) available on our intranet (available through a hyperlink), but IE seems to strip out their macros. This even happens when right-clicking and saving the target. The saved version does not run its macros. I have found a vague workaround by making the hyperlink run a VBScript file which opens the .dot direct from a shared drive in Word itself, but this isn't ideal because many of our users cannot access this shared drive. If anyone can suggest a solution I'd appreciate it.
dman Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Are you sure the macro isn't being disabled by a firewall content filter?
pungohboy Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 (edited) I am having the same problem. I was wondering if there was any resolution to the issue. From what I can tell for whatever reason when you click the filename.dot likn it tries to open it as a .doc file. If you save it, it also tries to use the .doc extension. I am trying to get my intranet available for use and ran into this road block. If anyone knows a way to get .dot files to open as .dot files from IE please let me know.Edit: I had a co worker try to open the file with Firefox and it allowed word to open and the macro to run no problems. I have my word set to not run inside IE also. Any help would be great Edited June 21, 2005 by pungohboy
