Tony Hawk
HelloAfter installing SQL server 2000 Developer Edition when I try to install any other software like baseline security analzer or try to do a system restore the process starts but then hangs and when I open task manager it says the system is not responding. I am thinking it is some kind of security issue but any help would be great, I been trying to figure this out for hours. Thanks
purewaveform
try sopping the servie. SQL server will try to keep a lock on all kinds of stuff. Kill all the extra process, and then try again.
Tony Hawk
Thanks purewaveformHow do you know which processes to stop? Thanks
purewaveform
there are several, if you do a search in the registry under the key, HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services then you can do a search for anything with SQL, write down the sub keys that are titled, "Display NAme" and what they are set to start as, usually a reg_dword. Then change them or use the "sc" command to stop them.Another way, is to google site:www.microsoft.com sql and see if it is listed somewhere. Also check the documentation.
