Cartoonite Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 After installing half-a-million programs, my Start Menu starts to get a little cluttered. I launch many of my most common apps from the Quick Launch Bar (that is, after all, what it's there for) but there are others that I use less often that I would prefer to leave off the QLB.Enabling personalised menus for the Classic-Style Start Menu is simple, but I have had no luck searching for a way to do it with XP-Style menus. Is it just not possible? For those who aren't sure what I'm talking about, personalised menus is the feature that hides unused icons on menus (generating the little chevrons at the bottom to expand the entire menu, if needed).
dman Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 The analog to classic personalized menus IS the windows XP start menu (hate it, use classic and put my programs into categories on the main programs menu trunk) The closest thing in the XP menu is to right-click a program and select "pin to start menu" for things you always want there. This keeps it from getting knocked off by other programs you launch. Nothing you can do with "all programs" menu in this mode except turn on highlight for new programs (oh, the joy)
Takeshi Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 If you're referring to the Start > All programs menu, you can manually re-organise them in the Start menu folders and enable scrolling. This will trim the list down a bit although not quite what you're after. As to the frequently used program menu (on the L), you can customise the no. of items shown and (via regedit) specify which programs not to be listed.
