MSIMaker Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 I downloaded MCE2005 from MSDN and created the 2 CD's from the iso images with Nero. No problem there. When I tried to install it, it seems the first CD is not bootable. So I just started Windows XP and inserted the MCE CD. I was prompted with an install screen and selected install.I then got a screen with 2 options. New Install or Upgrade (Recommended)I then did the upgrade. All I got was Windows XP SP2.It asked for CD 2 during the install but didnt install MCE at all.I have done this now 3 times and to date have not got MCE setup at all. Does anyone know of this issue?
prathapml Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 You have to check if the burnable image that you downloaded was corrupted in any way, or if it had a boot-sector at all. Open the image in UltraISO to check. If its boot sector is fine, then amybe nero burned it too fast - burn at 16x or lower and see again. If nothing else, just mount the images in VMware and see if it boots fine.

Guest Mr Sweden Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 You'll need a proper MCE product key to install MCE or it won't grab the mediactr.cab file. XP pro product key is no good here.Hope it helps.
DigeratiPrime Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 its sounds like he is making a custom unattended cd or maybe i misunderstood something.I hate to see you create a false persona like that, maybe you can explain it better.Get Skype, my username is DigeratiPrime
flupke Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 If setup askes for the 2nd cd means that you have a proper MCE product key. If you just get XP Pro SP2 after setup is becauce windows setup thinks you have no Media Center Computer. To make setup think you do have a proper system you have to ad before you upgrade the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\MediaCenter and there you make a DWORD "Installed" with value "1".
