here's my problem: as u all know new installs of xp pro doesn't come with java. so after i install java from sun. i tested java n it works. so i played spades on yahoo games. however when i try to close the applet window afterwards, it just hangs n the only way i can close is by alt ctrl del. but by doing that closes all my other windows. i have the latest java from sun with winxp pro sp2 on amd 1.72 ghz 512 ram 120 hd. browser IE. only programs running in bkgrd is my antivirus. any idea? thanks!

That's because it basically causes a problem with explorer.exe which goes and affects the rest of the GUI shell as well. You will always suffer that with IE.

Only when you move to something else like mozilla/firefox or Opera will this stop. Don't use IE, that's how you can solve this.

thanks. I realized that IE tend to do that. I do have other browsers like nescape n firefox. I dont use nescape just from the fact that it is own by aol(spam/popup king).

But this still doesn't explain y this error occurs. Is this just a compatibilty issue between sun java n IE? any remedy besides dont use IE?

it's just something between ie and java that won't be fixed,stick to a non ie browser like firefox or opera and you won't have those kinds of problems.
