Disk Space

My computer keeps saying ti has run out of disk space, and when I delete some old programs/files it will seem to have deleted some from the disk and shows how much free space I have, but when I check again, there is less disk space again and I haven't loaded any files, what gives? How can I get my disk space back?

Right click on recycle bin, then click "Empty Recycle Bin" from menu
