Rick Grupp Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 My WinXP-SP2 computer boots to the Startup Recovery Menu every time it starts instead of going directly into windows. This menu prompts you to start in safe mode or the last successfull startup or to start windows normally. Windows always starts up from this menu, in any of the choices. This all started after my ZoneAlarm detected a problem and shutdown internet access. I couldn't get ZoneAlarm to work again untill I re-installed it.Does anyone know what causes this boot behaviour? Is there a way to debug this startup process? I have already gone through the safe mode and msconfig options to no avail.
Takeshi Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 This usually happens after Windows had an improper shutdown and should go away the next time you shutdown Windows properly.
Rick Grupp Posted March 19, 2005 Author Posted March 19, 2005 That is just the point, no matter how many times I shut down windows successfully I still get the Startup Recovery Menu at the next boot.
