Help Mi Wif The Dos Command.....thnx

my hdd got some problem...i cannot boot into my window normally...so i hv to boot into safe mode....however it hang when it reaches "system/driver/ntfs.sys". i try o do a repair....and i type listsvc and realise tat the ntfs file is disable.... so i type enable ntfs but dis appear instead:

The registry entry for the ntfs service was found.

The service currently has start_type service_disabled.

The start_type of the service was not changed.

To change the start_type, specify a start type.

Valid start type are:

Service_boot_start

Service_system_start

Service_auto_start

Service_demand_start

So can anyone help mi wif the command, cos i dunno how to type them....thnx

you should be typing

enable ntfs service_auto_start

to enable the auto start of ntfs service.

thnx...i change the start type alrdy....but still couldn't boot into window? so how can i solve it??

Did you try the service_boot_start option?

Guess a reinstallation of XP is the next option

omg...is there still other solution cause i hv my impt. data inside the harddisk.....

The file itself could be corrupt so you could try replacing it from the CD in the Recovery Console.

Also do a chkdsk.

Failing that you could try a repair installation without reformat (which would leave your data intact).
