hmn... i'm a working student at the I.T department of the school where i'm in

i was thankful that i was able to finish my studies by the help of the president of this school that i cannot afford to pay for my education fee so i work as a student here with a backgroud knowledge in I.T and i was planning to make a educational domain website for them for marketing globally we have a DSL internet static ip connection i dont know if our isp is offering such services like hosting domain?? :( but i would like to have a little understanding how to domain a host?? i was wodering if there is a free top level domain name for .edu or do really need to buy it how is the transaction if i host outside the country seens my country is philippines?? how it will be possible?? please can someone help me?? :( really need an idea??
