Tubusy Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Hi, I have bought a second, better, hard disk for my PC.What I want to do is put a fresh install of windows (XP Pro SP2) onto the new disk and then transfer all of my old data to the new disk. What is the simplest way to do this? If I install windows onto the new disk (master) and then set the old disk as slave, will the new windows be able to read all the data on the old disk? The problem i expect is the privacy features in windows preventing me from getting at the data, so do I need to do something first so that the new install can access it?Many thanks for any help/advice you can offer!
IcemanND Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Actually you would be better off changing the security settings after the install. But if you have encryption turned on you should turn that off first.Permissions can be changed using the procedure I posted here:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=10561&hl=
