the key word you want to be looking for is 'AutoRun'... you want that to be disabled.

EDIT: This is what youre looking for...

;-----  CD-ROM AutoRun (0=disable, 1=enable)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom]
"AutoRun"=dword:00000000

I don't think that's quite right durex. I think he is only trying to disable the box that pops up asking "What do you want to do when you input a cd of type xxxxx." (Shown below.) Disabling autorun would disable this, but it would also disable CDs that have actual autorun features enabled. I'm not sure that's the solution misch is looking for.

Sorry to be just a nay-sayer on this one, but I have no idea how to disable this box other than clicking the "Always do the selected action." checkbox the first time the dialog comes up.

Ah.. didnt catch that part... well, what if you do a regshot before and after choosing 'Always do this selection'... Im sure Windows keeps that info in the reg someplace...

yes Cartoonite!!! that is exactly what i am looking for...... I use 2 removeble disks and i wold like too get rid of that window.....

Are you looking to get rid of it for all CDs that don't have their own auto-run files, or just blank CDs misch? I suspect durex's suggestion is likely the best solution, but reg shots can be tricky when trying to isolate a single key.

I suggest doing it in a VPC environment where you can take a system snapshot right before you make the changes, and then regshot and make the change several times. Then take all of your comparisons and compare them to each other. Hopefully you won't have too many keys that are present in all of the comparisons.

Please post back if you do manage to sort it out, or if you need more guidance. I'm sure something like this would be a big benefit to a lot of people. (I'm already thinking that I would want to add it to my own uA project. :))

Good luck, and keep us posted.
