are they needed if you do not have them installed? In my winnt.sif i have messanger and outlook turned off. will windows update ask for those updates if i don't have them?

It will probably not show the updates, but it will show the installation file of Windows Messenger. The entry in winnt.sif for Outlook Express will only hide the shortcuts to it, so I don't know if it will show the updates for it then.

I have it disabled and still wants to install Windows Messenger 4.7 on windows update. I would like to get rid of it too.
