February 20, 200521 yr I can't seem to get it to work. I have edited the registry to allow the Legacy Webviews, yet it still doesn't work. How can I enable this for Windows XP SP2?
February 20, 200521 yr Excuse my curiosity... but what's this "Webview" for Windows? How can I turn it on (or off). What regedit are you speaking of?Thanks.
October 20, 200520 yr I've been trying to get this **** thing to work (period) and I've only been able to do it by applying this patch:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer]"AllowLegacyWebView"=dword:00000001"AllowUnhashedWebView"=dword:00000001"RevertWebViewSecurity"=dword:00000001[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]"UseSystemForSystemFolders"=dword:00000001[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VisualEffects\WebView]"DefaultValue"=dword:00000001"DefaultApplied"=dword:00000001[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]"WebView"=dword:00000001[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer]"AllowLegacyWebView"=dword:00000001"AllowUnhashedWebView"=dword:00000001"RevertWebViewSecurity"=dword:00000001[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]"UseSystemForSystemFolders"=dword:00000001[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VisualEffects\WebView]"DefaultValue"=dword:00000001"DefaultApplied"=dword:00000001[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]"WebView"=dword:00000001and setting the folder I want to have WebView to be a system folder, then adding a desktop.ini to the folder:[ExtShellFolderViews]Default={5984FFE0-28D4-11CF-AE66-08002B2E1262}{5984FFE0-28D4-11CF-AE66-08002B2E1262}={5984FFE0-28D4-11CF-AE66-08002B2E1262}[{5984FFE0-28D4-11CF-AE66-08002B2E1262}]PersistMoniker=file://folder.httand placing folder.htt inside the directory. It's a pain in the @ss.Maybe the shellstyle.dll or shell32.dll from the original XP (non SP1) might hold the answer. Edited October 20, 200520 yr by expert01
