I have not found this information in my searches. I know you can add a DUN connections using IEAK, and customize your IE with IEAK as well. However, I use the normal IE setup files because the IEAK version of IE is much bigger. All I really want is to create the automatic Dial-Up Network (DUN) connection so that I don't have to re-create it every time I reinstall Win2k Pro. So, I have 2 questions:

  1. Can I create an automatic and silent DUN without IEAK?
  2. If I must use IEAK, what can I delete from the installation source so that it is not so huge?

Thankyou to anyone who can help.

You should be able to create the dialup connection only, by selecting single disk branding as the option, then uncheck everything except the connections section.

This will just create a setup.exe that does nothing but apply your settings and reboot.

As for shrinking the flat? I don't know everything that can be removed, but if you are only installing on Windows 2000, the all the IENT_Sx.CABs, IEMIL_x.CABs, can be removed, as they are for other OS's, and I'm sure there is more.

If anyone has a specific list of the bare cab requirements for each OS, that would be useful.

Thank you Joe. That single-disk branding should work. I hadn't noticed that option before sometimes one just needs a neighbor to point out something that is right under his nose...

Thanks again.

I've tested the disk branding option now. It adds a DUN, but does not keep the user name and password. It also forces a reboot unless you extract it, and use the extracted setup file with /r:n.

Does anyone know how to save a DUN so it keeps a user name and password?

BTW, I'm open to other suggestions on ISP dialing, such as scripted dial up or a third party dialer.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Does anyone know how to install a DUN unattended with the user name and password? The above solution saves the phone number and the DUN name, but not the user name and password.
