recently bought a toshiba staellite A60 notebook. xp home sp2 preinstalled. it takes 36-120 secs to shutdown. i discovered that the setting ClearPageFileAtShutdown = 0 is not staying, but returning to ClearPageFileAtShutdown = 1 after a few restarts. all my other reg tweaks stick. i have tried giving permission to my username to this key in the registry but that is not helping. any ideas ? thank u.

Try setting it as a mchine policy.

Do the follwoing to do this:

Go to Start, Run and type GPEDIT.MSC

Browse to Computer Configuration, Windows Settings, Security Settings, Local Policies, Security Options.

The 9th option down is Clear virtual memory pagefile when system shuts down.

Double Click this and select either enabled, it will clear it, or disabled, it won't.

Hope this will help
