Blank Discs Not Reading, Freezing Windows Explorer

This is probably a dumb problem, and been answered before, but I can't find it on the search.

Anyway, this is what I did:

1. Tried to burn a CD

2. Left the room, came back to it, it was running very slowly

3. Had multiple windows open, crashed the system (someone else was trying to do his own work at the same time)

4. After crashing, rebooted

5. Removed CD

Now, whenever I put a blank disc in, Autoplay doesn't pop up its window, and if I open Explorer and click on the D: drive, the Explorer freezes and has to be shut down with Task Manager. No error messages or anything. I deleted the files from the staging area and rebooted, the problem still happens.

It WILL read discs already burned, and program discs. Just won't do ANYTHING with blank discs. Please help!

This is strange.... Do a virus, adware, and spyware scan. Reboot the PC and try again. If it still freezes, it is most likely the brand of CD. Try a different brand. If problems stil persist, it's the burner.

I've seen that problem for specific reaons, BUT they nay not be likely for you, since you burned successfully yesterday. So rather than complicate the issue, let me know if you've any of these situations:

1. Sonic MyDvd OR an app that utilitzes DLA(drive letter assignment) AND SpywareGuard or such app that immunizes / blocks installing BHO's or real-time file protection enabled...

2. You've partitioned recently... in particular w/ Paragon...
