totoymola Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Hello guys. I don't know what happened to my start menu, but the "shutdown" button on my start menu disappeared! Because of that, I have two questions.1. How can I fix it?2. How can I remove it again? (But this time, not by accident ) This is what I want to do to the computers on my school. Because I hate it when students shutdown the computers instead of logging out!
un4given1 Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 START / RUN / gpedit.msc / User Configuration/Start Menu and Taskbar / Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down commandOf course, this only works with Windows XP pro because Group Policies can not be set in XP home. There is a regkey that controls it too, just not sure off hand.
argon007 Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Use this for Unattended XP CD.Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer]"NoClose"=dword:00000001
totoymola Posted February 15, 2005 Author Posted February 15, 2005 Thank you guys! Too bad I can't do this to the computers on my school because they are just using Win2000.. But at least I can fix mine. ****! I just did a complete reinstallataion 3 days ago!
un4given1 Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 I believe it will work all the same in 2000.
totoymola Posted February 15, 2005 Author Posted February 15, 2005 Really? Good! I will try it tomorrow. Thank you again. I wasn't really playing with msc files that's why I don't remember using them. Thanks again for reminding me.
