Problem receiving GMail on OE 6

i have setup outlook express 6 to receive gmail messages. i have activated the pop setting from the gmail account, and have used the gmail automatic configuration tool to set up the accont in OE. I am able to send messages sucessfully from my gmail account, but when i try to downnload messages, i get the following error:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'GMail', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

can anyone help me here..as far as i am aware..all the setings in OE are correctly configured, and i am able to send messages from my GMail accont using OE. Just that i cannt receive messages!

did you change the port setting to googles? the default ones are 110 and 25 these need to be changed

yes the port settings have been changed. You can make out the port settings from the error message itself: POP port 995 and secure option enabled.

How long have you had this problem for?

Have you tried to delete the settings and recreate new ones?

HAve you checked the status of the service (usually on the forum within gmail)

You also have to set the settings in g-mail to allow the use of outlook.

i am not aware of any settings in gmail except for enabling POP and forwardng, which i have done. what are the other settings? Also, i can send mail successfully..so shouldnt atleast that indicate that the settings are correct?

kelsenellenelvian, do u know which settings i have to change in GMail to enable it to receive mails with OE6? As i mentioned, i am able to send mail..just cant receive it.
