reg key for default browser

Featured Replies

I've been using the following to set thunderbird as the default mail client:

;set thunderbird as default mail client

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Clients\mail]

@="Mozilla Thunderbird"

Can't seem to find an equiv. for browsers. I'd like Mozilla to be the default out-of-the-box browser. What's the reg key to do so?

Check out Simonsays UA firefox install thread... on his 1st post hes got the code you can toss in a batch file to make FF your default... works like a charm

Found the answer in a round-able way... not actually a regkey, but it works:

BTW you can use the command mentioned above for both firefox and mozilla as default browser by using the command mentioned in one of the registrytweaks:

"%PROGRAMFILES%\Mozilla\mozilla.exe -silent -nosplash -setDefaultBrowser"  respectively

"%PROGRAMFILES%\Mozilla\firefox.exe -silent -nosplash -setDefaultBrowser"

using additional the -setDefaultMail should set Mozilla as default mailer
