ToBe
Are you trying to install WinXP on a virtual machine expected to run Win2000?That can produce that error. What I had to do was to delete that VM and create a new one, changing the guest operating system to WinXP (Win2000 is the default). Spyder2k
Are your Drives SCSI or IDE? They should be IDE for WinXP, or you'll need to get some drivers.
cow
i have both of those things going on...why does the guide say to pick win2k if it won't work?also, the virtual disk is a scsi disk. i checked the options, and i do not have an option to make it an ide disk. anyone know why? Spyder2k
There is no way to convert it to an IDE drive (not that I know of anyway). But you can create a new IDE drive and transfer your data using some sorta disk mirroring software (norton ghost etc.)
prathapml
Are you using XP Home in vmware? If so, that is the problem.Windows XP Home Edition does not have the drivers for the SCSI of vmware. So create a new VM now, and choose IDE interface (for HDD).
