Daem Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 Ok so my dad reformatted his hard drive to install win xp. When we try to boot fromt he XP cd it sits at "Boot From CD:"So we try a floppy boot disk and it says "NTLDR is missing press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart"any ideas?
Jose Sigafus Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 What did he use to reformat? Make sure bios is set to boot from the CD-ROM.
Daem Posted January 11, 2005 Author Posted January 11, 2005 He tried formatting in MS DOS and that wouldn't work right I guess, so he slaved it on my computer and reformatted by right clicking and selecting FORMAT.To rule out the hard drive i took a blank HD i have and hooked it up to his computer, set the cmos to boot from floppy, but now its stuck trying to boot from the CD. And when I put in a CD it just sits on Boot from CD: _

Noise Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 Try flipping the CD over (shinny side down). Sometime you can still get Windows to install shinny side up, but it will install backwards.
