I am trying to make a multi-boot dvd with xp sp2 which is slipstream with nlite eg sp1 to sp2 i am doing the multi-boot guide from that website come to try it out on Microsoft Virtual PC and then after the boot i get a screen with this on.

windows xp pro setup

setup cannot find the temporary installation files.

The hard drive on which setup placed temporary files is not currently available to windows xp. You may need a manufacturer-supplied device driver, or you may need to run setup again and select a drive that is compatible with windows xp for the temp installation files. See your windows xp doc for more info. setup cannot continue.

my files look like this

bootdisk

bscript

root/xppc

valueadd

xppc

win51

win51p.sp1

WIN51IP

win51ip.SP2

xppc.dat

is there anythink i can do to make it work

If I understand correctly, the installation is going thru the first phase (blue background were the files are copied over to the hard drive) and then after the first reboot you get this message:

windows xp pro setup

setup cannot find the temporary installation files.

The hard drive on which setup placed temporary files is not currently available to windows xp. You may need a manufacturer-supplied device driver, or you may need to run setup again and select a drive that is compatible with windows xp for the temp installation files. What is your Hard Drive setup in Virtual PC ?

I ran into this same problem today, and am posting this so others searching the forums can find the answer. I was had copied my winnt.sif from the one that I use for running network installs, and it had:

MsDosInitiated="1"

Just change it to 0 and recreate the iso and the error goes away.
