Concerning MAKEIE and XP Create.

A long story short:

I used the GreenMachine's MAKEIE batch to create the self-extracting IE executable, then moved the executable it created IE.exe and IE6GO.exe to the XP Create SVC-PRE folder. But every time I ran the program it wanted to redownload IE from Microsoft and that made it creat two new executables in the SVC-PRE folder of the same IE, which in the end caused undesirable results as the svcpack.inf had four executables related to the installing of IE.

After a while I realized that XP Create checks for files named 'IE6SP1.exe', so I renamed IE.exe to IE6SP1.exe and then it worked as I wanted. Yet.. To avoid further confusion among users I'd like to point out that it might be better if the makeie batch would name the sfx IE6SP1.exe and the readme file would state also accordingly.

OR have I missed something completely and I'm talking complete smack? :huh:

MAKEIE was a tool used to create an IE Package before the code was introduced into XPCreate tool. It's no longer used but GM has not deleted the link due to lack of time...

If you use the latest available XPCreate version (June 2004), IE6Setup.exe will be downloaded from Microsoft and the package automatically created.

If the IE6SP1.EXE package allready exists in SVC-PRE, XPCreate will just skip this step.

@GM

I repeat my whish to be able to set the variable with XPCreate.ini

I will ask you to make a very little modification in you code for the next version to turn the IE6 download feature (ALWAYS YES if IE6SP1 not found locally) to selectable through XPCREATE.INI.

SET GETIE6=YES
.../...
IF NOT "%GETIE6%"=="YES" GOTO EOF

It's very confusing that all downloads are made with XPCTHLST.TXT list except IE6.

Download URL's are coded in XPCreate.
