hi guys

simple question just need simple answer

my dvd autodetects nvidia and ati cards by oempnp... and the right drivers

now untill now i thought its working great:)because i had nvidia cards and it detected them great by simple taking the driver files and right entries in winnt.sif .

now with ati i tried to do this and it didnt work:

i extracted the driver and took this folder >>>

C:\ATI\SUPPORT\wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-082-041130a-019577c\WDM\WDM_XP

now i started investigating and saw that this inf is for Win98/Win2000

(which makes what was said here in the forum by some post to be wrong)

now my question is this, has anyone made it work with ati ? and what folder did you take from this driver package??(and dont tell me to look at ati silent install, cause thats not what i want,i want to install driver only and only if xp needs it,it might need nvidia if i install this dvd on another pc)

thanks in advance for any quick advice

Extract the exe, and take out *only* the \Driver\2K_XP\ folder.

point the path to the 2K_XP folder. The parent folder isn't needed (the folder with setup.exe data1.cab etc.)

hi

first of all thanks for your reply

listen i am almost sure i did that and it didnt work

by the way look at the other folder under

C:\ATI\SUPPORT\wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-082-041130a-019577c\Driver\2KXP_INF

(B_19654) all files there are compressed and only one sys file, also compressed)

you sure this works for you? with the compressed files?

thanks again

That is probably the mistake being committed....

Don't direct path to "\Driver\2KXP_INF\B_19654".

Tell it to look in "\Driver\2KXP_INF" instead. And it will be fine.

Note though, that the ATi Control Panel won't install in this way. Unlike our nVidia Control Panel which just installs when the INF is used, the ATi CPL is Install-Shield-based, so needs to be installed separately. Do post back with your results.

maybe you want to check this thread, it will be useful for you.

as for my experience you need to include only the dir "\Driver\2KXP_INF", subdir is not necessary for this driver (not the same for audigy driver for example).
