stinkjones Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 use uninstall files to make an automated install program?would that work? i figure, it has all the files and reg entries of the program, so you might be able to use it to make a file which will automatically install the program.just an idea. it may be retarded but i am newflame away anyway if it is dumb, because i know how good that feels for you from my experience in other forums thx
Astalavista Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 LMAO nice joke... should be moved to the funny farm.welcome to MSFN.
prathapml Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 @stinkjones,do you know.... actually you have got a good idea there. Yes, you *CAN* do that.In fact, I've been doing that since some time - for the mozilla installer (there's a .log file that says what reg and file entries were made). So then, once you know what the installer did, you can do the same yourself - without needing 3rd party apps to monitor the install. But for most purposes doing so is not needed - but some cases do suit the "work in reverse direction from uninstaller logs" very well. Merry Christmas!
