RichTJ99
Hi,I was curious I am in the middle of setting up a 2003 Server. The Network has a cable modem, plugged into an 8 port router, which then goes into some sort of hub.I am thinking that using the Router DHCP is better in the event that the server goes down (other computers on the network will be able to use the internet at least). What is the general opinion on this subject?BTW, are there any other forums that have a more active Server 2003 population? Thanks,Rich
FAT64
Sounds like a fairly good idea to me, not that I'm an expert. It's one less service on your server, of course. It depends how your users access the Internet, if they go through a Proxy on the server and it goes down, then they won't be able to - obviously. Flashcore
You can use that but you may get some werd problems with active directory and the ms dns service. You will have to hardset all of your client systems to use the windows DNS server for resolutuin or some things in active directory may not work properly. I personaly just use the DHCP on the server but i set the renew time to 6 weeks. This gives me 6 weeks to fix a problem if one occurs. You could allways make it longer tho.
