DV Capture problems on P4P800-E

Hi Folks!

Has anyone else seen this problem?

I am having some problems capturing DV via the integrated firewire port on my ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe mobo. I can’t capture more than a few seconds before Premiere aborts the capture reporting lost frames. If I try the 3 port PCI firewire card from my old PC with the integrated port enabled I get the same result. If I disable the integrated firewire port and use the PCI card, the problem goes away.

Incidentally, I believe both the PCI card and the integrated port use the same chip from ViaTech.

I am wondering if this is normal for integrated firewire ports or do I have a problem somewhere. My machine stats are as follows:

Main Hardware:

P4 3.0GHz Prescott

ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe (latest BIOS)

2x512M DDR3200 RAM in Dual Channel config

2x160GB SATA HDD in RAID 0 config (c:)

Main Software:

WinXP Pro SP2

Premiere Pro 1.5

This isn’t a big deal because I can get away with using the PCI card, but it’s just slightly irritating ;-)
