FAT64 Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 Well, I hate to tell you this, but my Windows folder is also over 2Gb!!
Lolly Posted December 1, 2004 Author Posted December 1, 2004 Well, im not about to install and see.I was thinking whats the size right after the install? And I think I've forgotten the effect of the Pagefile. That can easily add 1 or 2 GB might depend on the HD size and how XP allocates the size, I think it was percentage...But thanks for answer.
prathapml Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 By itself the *ENTIRE* Windows XPSP2 install (including program files folder) does not cross 1.2 GB.But you should ensure that you have atleast 3 or 4 GB of free-space on the partition where you will install XP, to give breathing space for system restore, DLLcache, hibernate, swap-file. But you can delete these things after install is completed - to cut-down on disk-usage.
Drewdatrip Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 Yup its around 1.2-2gb!If you or your friend are not happy with Win Xp's massive foot print on both the RAM and HDDcheck out nliteI have used it for some time now, and my average xpinstal is far under 1gb |Drew|
