I have XP SP2 and IE6. When I start Windows Update, I get a blank screen and a message that the webpage canot be displayed properly with the following details:

Line: 72

Char: 3

Error: Automation server can't create object

Code:0

URL: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

This started happening around the time when I removed several entries from the registry (Spybot reported them as DSO Exploit, erased them and found them again after reboot; later I read on some webpage that they were legit).

This is not something urgent. Any help is appreciated. Thanks,

In services do you have Automatics Updates set to "Automatic" if not have that set to automatic.

Clear your temp history and files also install the latest version of Windows Script (if search on Microsoft's website for it or google)
