Hi Guys, I'm new to the unattended thing but basically I want to install software onto a PC across our network without actually attending the machine, I was hoping that their was some cheap (or free) software that I could specify the software, the PC name and a username/password and it would install it. ;)

Our network consists of 4 Win 2000 server machines, 1 MS SQL 2003 server and XP/2k PC's :)

Please help

I think this is what you could do:

Have the files to be installed on the centralo server (whatever it is named). Then add RunOnceEX registry keys, to every desktop (push it via group policies). That way, the next time when it boots up it will execute that app with switches and all....

Thanks for the reply, how do I add RunOnceEX to the registry keys?

Sorry about this I'm not the most technical :(

I think you should read this,

http://unattended.msfn.org

This will tell ou how to do 1 CD to build.

Then, you'll need to learn about RemoteInstallationServices, (free on win2k server)

Together you will get what you after.

Group Policy will help in deploying appps, user profiles etc etc

Remote Installation Services on Windows 2000 would work or you could try a hardware based imaging solution Automated Deployment Services for Windows 2003, both are from MS.
