surgeon Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Hi, i have a problem... Maybe anybody have a solution... I use WINDIFF in order to find differences between two registry's exportation. It's a very good soft. This soft use different colors to make the differences appearing...I noticed that every unattended install create a key that is different at each install; the key looks like: "S-1-5-21-746137067-2147149663-1343024091-1003"I was wondering if it was possible to bypass this key because obviously, as the new install create a new key, i can't import my settings...knowing that WINDIFF reveal this key in all the differences it colors.I hope you will understand my big problem...(my english is a little poor )Oops i forgot:I tried to change all this key using [HKEY_CURRENT_USER] instead of the [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-746137067-2147149663-1343024091-1003\] one, but it seems that it is not working...Thank you for helping me.
Alanoll Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 the keys that AREN'T being imported, are mostlike windows settings, that require either a restart, or are over written when shutting down to their current states. Examples being TaskBarXP that stores the Taskbar info. However, if during install you applied this, the keys SHOULD remain effective if imported at CMDLINES.TXTAnd Yes, generally, the long string of numbers is usually [HKEY_CURRENT_USER]
