venturi
Scenario- with 4 250GB drives raided (actual is 948Gb) -it works. With 4 300GB drives it does not. With 3 300Gb drives it boots and worksThe C: partition in all scenarios was 20GB. I usaully partition 350 for apps, 400Gb for games, and the rest for files, movies, CD copies, etc. Yes, I also tried one big C: partition, but that did not work either.Anyhow. Microsoft won't help me on the issue unless I pay their hourly server support fee. The problem occurs on Win 2003 Ent Srv both 32 and 64 bit flavors. The Suse build has no problem with the size and loads great!Just Windows is the b***h.Any ideas? Remember, it is not hardware or config, if other OSes are OK with it. Remember that it breaks only when I brach the 1T threshold. Here are my rig specs:Dual Opteron 2508GB ecc ram (fastest)tyan s2885 board, latest bios6800 Ultra NvidiaWin Ent Server 64 latest released build(4) SATA RAID 300GB drives (over 1 Terabyte storage)Dual Layer DVD burnerThanks in advance for any help you render. Marsden
<<Remember, it is not hardware or config>>That hardly applies if you are running Win2K3 X64... it is beta software...As for the 32bit version... is the SATA RAID on the HCL for Win2K3 Server? Just because another OS runs... doesn't mean squat!
blabMOXkd
what is your raid controller???? built into the motherboard?not all raid is included in the HCLmy Win2k3 install needed additional drivers to procede (and yet another driver after install to read the drives properly), but both FC3 and Suse Enterprise server picked up my raid
