Quick and simple question

Recommended Posts

Well I hope its simple for you guys, but

I keep getting the error I did before during the windows install, see my other thread

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=32541

I have since bought some more better quality CD's, but the error still remains.

I have sat down and tried to logically think, what could be wrong and have come up with an idea

In reference to this guide - http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html

It says that SP2 cd's can not be integrated into ones with hotfixes on them already, now - my original XP install disk I am integrating sp2 into already has SP1 on it, do I need to delete the Sp1 files first?

I do not get the integration error that is shown in the guide, so that is what is confusing me.

If I do need to delete the Sp1 files, which ones are they that I need to delete?

I did try a search on this, but nothing come up with my answer

If you have an original MS Windows XP or Windows XP SP1 source cd, copy it to your hard drive, extract the SP2 files to your hard drive as well then slipstream them and re-create your .ISO.

This has worked for me. The article may be referencing a build of XP that has had hotfixes copied into it.

Yup I done all that, double checked everything but still I get the error, I know I have done everything right because the drivers to load my Sata disks works, just when it gets into setup, it generates the same error.

So you can slipstream over sp1?
